RIVETS + PISTONS

Rivets + Pistons was designed as a laid-back yet highly curated car condo for a collector whose passions extend well beyond horsepower. Rooted in mid-century modern design, California coastal cool, and an outdoor adventure lifestyle, the space balances relaxed sophistication with museum-level presentation. Home to a rotating lineup of Porsche 911s, classic Land Rovers, and vintage Indian and Triumph motorcycles, the garage functions as both personal gallery and everyday retreat.

Warm vertical wood slat walls introduce mid-century texture and rhythm, while a dimensional Charles Eames quote and blueprint-inspired Porsche 911 wall graphic speak to the client’s deep respect for design, craftsmanship, and engineering heritage. Recessed artifact cases transform leather riding jackets, helmets, and memorabilia into curated exhibits, giving the space a gallery-like narrative without sacrificing comfort.

Anchoring the lower level, a concealed wine bar creates an easy transition from workshop energy to social gathering. Above, the mezzanine lounge offers a relaxed perch for entertaining, reflecting, and taking in the collection. The result is a space that feels equal parts coastal studio, modern museum, and private clubhouse. Designed for a client who values authenticity, adventure, and timeless design as much as the machines themselves.
