I got here by way of the Smithsonian.

I spent the early part of my career designing museum exhibitions in Washington, D.C.: figuring out how to light an object so a stranger walking past will stop, and how to sequence a room so a story lands in the right order. Then furniture design, luxury home furnishings, an antiques business, and twenty-six years of interiors on both coasts.

It took me a while to notice what all of it had in common. Everything I've done has been about the same problem: how do you build a room around the things a person values most?

Car collectors turned out to be the answer. They own objects that are already beautiful, already engineered, already loaded with meaning. And they almost never have a room that does them justice. Most collections live in storage with good lighting. I started Joyride Garage Design in 2021 to fix that.

Porsche and MotorTrend once brought me on as a guest designer, which meant spec'ing a build in their configurator and a day at the Porsche Experience Center learning launch control, wet-skid recovery, and how to catch a car when someone kicks the rear end out from under you on purpose. Best day I've had on the job.

I'm based in Costa Mesa. I'm currently hunting a late-sixties 911 or 912 Targa, structurally sound, cosmetics negotiable. Mostly I miss driving stick.
