911 OFFICE

911 Office was designed for a real estate executive whose love affair with Porsche started in childhood and never let go. What began with collecting LEGO 911 models became the real thing, and eventually became the view from his desk. The brief was simple and slightly unreasonable: a fully functional family garage that also worked as an office, arranged so he could look up from a call and see the car.

The problem with a working garage is everything else in it. Car seats, ladders, exercise equipment, the accumulated gear of an actual household. Rather than pretend that could be designed away, we gave it a place and drew a curtain across it. Full-height drapery on ceiling track runs both sides of the room, concealing storage and fitness in a single gesture. Refrigeration disappears behind slatted walnut fronts below the counter. A pure white epoxy floor, borrowed from the immaculate finish floors of Porsche's own production facilities, throws light back into the room, while limewashed plaster and walnut keep it from reading cold.

What remains is a workspace that seats two, hides four functions, and puts a 1980s 911 within arm's reach of the desk chair. Equal parts professional headquarters and childhood dream realized. A space built for someone who never outgrew his love for 911s. And thankfully, never had to.
