DESIGNING FOR COLLECTORS VS ENTHUSIASTS

Designing for a collector is an exercise in restraint, reverence, and storytelling, where the automobile itself remains the undisputed focal point. The space is shaped around provenance, preservation, and presentation—carefully considered lighting, sightlines, and materiality that elevate the vehicle as an artifact worthy of quiet admiration. By contrast, designing for an enthusiast leans into identity and emotional connection. The environment often celebrates the marque as much as the machine, incorporating brand colors, logos, memorabilia, and experiential elements that express passion and personal affiliation. Where the collector’s space feels curated and museum-like, the enthusiast’s space feels immersive and expressive—both luxurious, but guided by entirely different motivations.
